Malta House of Care – Waterbury provides free, high-quality primary healthcare to uninsured adults in Greater Waterbury.
Healthcare with Dignity.
Right Here in Waterbury.
For over fifteen years, we have cared for the sick and vulnerable in our community, ensuring that every patient has a medical home and the support they need to live healthier lives.
A Medical Home for Our Community
Since opening our doors in August 2010, we have provided more than 13,000 free patient visits — all through the generosity of volunteer physicians and nurses.

We exist to ensure uninsured adults have:
- A trusted medical home
- Early diagnosis and treatment
- Prevention-focused care
- Support navigating the healthcare system
83% of our patients live in the City of Waterbury. Many are low-income, uninsured, and ineligible for health insurance.
We are the only healthcare provider in Greater Waterbury that does not charge fees or bill insurance. Ever.

Compassion in Action
Our patients receive more than medical care.
- Preventative services like vaccinations and cancer screenings
- Support for managing chronic conditions
- Health education materials
- Social needs assessments and referrals for food, housing, and transportation

Spanish-speaking community health workers provide culturally competent guidance and support to help patients navigate the healthcare system with confidence.
Growing to Meet the Need

In March 2022, after more than a decade operating as a mobile clinic, we opened our first permanent brick-and-mortar location in the former St. Francis Xavier Convent.
This new space allows us to expand services and serve more patients — while staying rooted in our founding mission.
